The Birds & Bees

Eric Guo
Design Lead

My name is Eric Guo. I am a product designer with a background in marketing and communications. Before joining MHCI, I worked as a product designer at a startup and a design intern at a 4A advertising agency. Oh, by the way, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is my favorite video game.

Clara Olson
Tech Lead

Hey there! I’m Clara. I am an aspiring UX specialist with a background in psychology and computer science. After working for University of Michigan as a field interviewer on one of their national studies, I am looking forward to bridging the gap between tech and the people who use it. I am passionate about helping people live healthier and more fulfilling lives. Specifically, I have a strong interest in wellness tech and women’s health.

Emily McDonald
Research Lead

Hi! I’m Emily, and I’m an aspiring Games User Researcher. My background is in psychology and research from Georgia Tech. My goal is to use my interest in both UX and games to create joyful, engaging experiences for users. Also, I’d like to back up Eric that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is the best video game.

Felix Liu
Project Manager

Hi! My name is Felix Liu and I am an aspiring designer with a background in Cognitive Science. I believe that human centered design can help designers to solve wicked problems. Good solutions are backed by good research and empathy, and I enjoy finding the right questions to ask. Outside of school, you can find me exploring the outdoors or supporting my favorite soccer team, Arsenal.

Ritu Parekh
Project Manager

Hi, I’m Ritu! Working towards an user experience design role, I come from a background in mechanical engineering and worked as a process engineer. I’m really excited by upcoming technologies’ potential for impact and influence in society, particularly in the context of human relationships. I’m thrilled to be working on this project and hope you enjoy following our progress!

PROJECT

What is Capstone?

We are Birds & Bees, a group of graduate students at Carnegie Mellon University in the (MHCI) program. Our goal is to meet people where they are at, understand their pain points and joys, and build off our understanding to design solutions that meet their needs and improve lives.

The MHCI program is a rigorous 12-month graduate degree, including an 8-month long capstone project. The Capstone Project is an opportunity for us as students to apply what we’ve learned while collaborating on a real problem as an interdisciplinary team with our client and affected stakeholders. From January to August 2019, we will be working closely with Talk to research and design a solution that will help Sam and her team do what they do best.

Thanks for Visiting!
We hope you've enjoyed seeing our work
from the past few months!
